Retail Medicine
This seminar will explain in simple, everyday language
the major legal and regulatory issues concerning the ownership
and operation of a medical spa, including: state regulation
of services and personnel; the legal distinction between
a “medical director” and “medical spa
physician”; medical spa physician agreements; the
supervision of non-physician professionals; advertising
issues; and special problems related to medical spa franchises.
Scott Blair, M.I.M., J.D. is a leading attorney in the
area of retail medicine law. He is the author of Medical
Spa Franchises: Gold Mine or Land Mine, serves on the Editorial
Advisory Board of Medesthics magazine and frequently lectures
on medical spa issues. He represents both physician and
non-physician clients throughout the United States and is
a member of the State Bar of Arizona.

Bio:
Dr. Rebecca Giles received her bachelor’s
degree from the University of Michigan, and her MD with
honors from the University of California at Davis Medical
School. She received her residency training at the University
California Davis Medical Center.
She has studied cosmetic dermatology with some of the most
distinguished and experienced teachers in the field. She
is the founder of Fix Malibu Inc., a skin clinic in Malibu,
California. She is an active member of the American Medical
Association (AMA), the California Medical Association, the
Medical Spa Society, and the International Spa Association.
Prior to beginning her practice in Malibu, Dr. Giles served
as medical director of Aura Skinspa in San Francisco.
When she is not busy making the world a more beautiful
place, Rebecca spends her time with her husband, Dr. Jason
Giles, her two young children, and in her passionate pursuit
of marathon running.
